Where uPVC wins
uPVC frames are naturally insulating. The multi-chamber profile traps air and slows heat loss, so the frame stays warmer to the touch — which means fewer draughts and less condensation. Standard aluminium conducts heat and cold, and tends to sweat.
uPVC is also low maintenance: no repainting, no rot, no swelling. A wipe-down keeps it looking right for years.
Where aluminium still suits
For very large spans, or where you want the thinnest possible sightlines for a modern look, aluminium has the edge. Thermally broken aluminium narrows the thermal gap — but usually at a higher price than uPVC.
